Question 01
What is A Galaxy in Flames?
A Galaxy in Flames is a real-time grand strategy game set across the real Milky Way at 10,000:1 scale. You command one of the galaxy's major civilizations through eight connected aspects of empire.
Question 02
Is it real-time or turn-based?
Real-time. Population, Exploration, Research, Military, Culture, Economy, Construction, and Diplomacy all unfold continuously rather than in discrete turns.
Question 03
Can I play solo?
Yes. One player can command the whole civilization, with AI advisors holding any aspect you leave untouched.
Question 04
How does multiplayer work?
Many players can share one galaxy. Each can run their own civilization solo, share a civilization with co-commanders, or play alongside AI-managed empires in the same session.
Question 05
How does shared-civilization co-op work?
Up to eight players can share one civilization, each taking responsibility for one or more aspects of empire. AI advisors hold whatever no one claims, and your decisions always override theirs.
Question 06
Will you add more civilizations in the future?
Yes — more civilizations are planned beyond the six at launch.
Question 07
Will players be able to create custom civilizations?
Planned, in two forms. Players will be able to create custom civilizations based on the six core civilizations, and fully custom civilizations through the modding system.
Question 08
How flexible is the modding system?
Very flexible. Full details to follow as the system matures.
Question 09
Is the galaxy really the Milky Way?
Yes. The target is the real Milky Way at 10,000:1 scale, using real astronomical data wherever possible and embellished where the simulation requires it.
Question 10
What platforms are planned?
PC and Steam for now. Other platforms are not being promised at this stage.
Question 11

Question 13
How can I follow development?
Join the Discord for live development, sign up for the mailing list for major milestones, and watch the Dev Log for posts.
Question 14
How can I help?
Join the Discord, send a message, share the project, give feedback on public posts, and back the Kickstarter when it launches.
